Back in 2008 , astronomers detected an asteroid point straight toward Earth . For the first time ever , theytracked the rock as it curve towards our planetand burst forth over the Nubian desert . Now , pieces of the recovered meteorite are beginning to reveal its secret — like how it once harbour an active vent .
One tiny piece of the meteorite , less than an ounce , is the subject of a newstudy in the journal PNASabout volcanism in the early universe .
