Forget the Sinister Six ; if Andrew Garfield is right , Spider - Man ’s most serious foes may be Sony executive . The genius says the reason Amazing Spider - Man 2 flopped is because of hindrance from the studio , which removed too much of the story and exit the moving-picture show a spot of a mess .
Here ’s Garfield hat Mon discuss it withThe Daily Beast :
For me , I read the script that Alex [ Kurtzman ] and Bob [ Orci ] wrote , and I genuinely bed it . There was this thread running through it . I think what bump was , through the pre - yield , production , and post - production , when you have something that knead as a whole , and then you start removing portions of it — because there was even more of it than was in the terminal cut , and everything was connect . Once you start take thing and say , “ No , that does n’t work , ” then the thread is broken , and it ’s hard to go with the flow of the story . Certain people at the studio apartment had problems with certain portion of it , and in the end the studio apartment is the final say in those movies because they ’re the tentpoles , so you have to serve to those people .

But I ’ll order you this : mouth about the experience as fight back to how it was perceived , I got to bring in rich fit that you do n’t ordinarily see in comic book picture show , and I get to explore this orphan son — a lot of which was taken out , and which we ’d explore more . It ’s interesting to do a postmortem examination . I ’m proud of a lot of it and had a good fourth dimension , and was a bit taken aback by the reaction .
I ’m not sure how to sense about this . I mean , studio interference has been around as long as Hollywood has , and it ’s uncommon that they have estimation that in reality ameliorate the motion picture they release . On the other script , the terminal run time of Amazing Spider - Man 2 was still two hours and 22 minutes — which is middling damn recollective . Surely there was some percentage point in the process where director Marc Webb recognise this movie was going to be an untenable three hours long , and could figure out a direction to tighten the movie without losing “ the flow of the account , ” as it were .
Also , I doubt there were any scenes Sony snub that would have made whyPeter Parker refused to give his blood to his good friend to save his lifeany more explicable .
