If you ’re a BlackBerry fan , there is probably not a single thing you have been depend forward to more than what we have justly here – screenshots and full details of RIM ’s upcoming operating system , OS 6.0 .
One of our AT&T source has not only showed us the marque young OS , but has also given us some screenshots that we could share . Since we have seen OS 6.0 in action first hand , we will break it down for you guys , along with all the other screenshots , after the break !
you could see the new web internet browser that RIM has skin up , complete with yellow journalism switching , new favourite , and multitouch . Yes , multitouch . The internet browser calculate like it ’s coming along quite nicely , all WebKit !
Here ’s the actual tab switcher view , with nice transparent overlay . No word on how many open tabloid you’re able to keep simultaneously .
Finally , a redone media histrion , and it does n’t look half bad , right ? The piloting in this opinion is done by using your finger to pasture the record album art oeuvre and then touch the specific album cover to start play .
Here is what we can tell you about OS 6.0 that we see in action mechanism … RIM has finally implement system - wide kinetic scroll with rubberbanding . This makes the experience a mo more liquid when scrolling through lists , internet Page , emails , and the like . There is also multitouch organisation - widely , from the web browser app to the photos diligence , and yes , crimp to whizz is in there .
Looking at the factual message inbox , things take care a fleck sportsmanlike , and a bit more modern , but it ’s manifestly not a Brobdingnagian departure from what we have now , just another evolutionary upgrade which is par for the class with RIM . But , we decidedly do like the look of the new inbox . It also features big thumbnails to the left of each content to place the character of subject matter ( Facebook , Twitter , etc . ) and we even find out RSS feeds built right in which look great . We ca n’t depict this part … but the raw inbox feels right . It ’s not all work and dry , and it ’s not over the top with cheesy graphics or animation , rather a nice via media of the two .
Something big for OS 6.0 is the homescreen . While we did n’t see any sort of gismo backup , it appears RIM has made the homescreen completely customizable with pages . you could have your applications on the primary page , then slide leave or correct to another page with different applications and crop that way . In the homescreen screenshot above , you ’ll see a sliding field towards the bottom , and you’re able to slither that up , and divulge the first pageboy of practical program , and you’re able to then slip that to show the unlike groups which tally to the unlike homescreen page . Favorites , all , home , etc .
Another big matter for OS 6.0 is modal popups with gestures . Once you tap a specific photo , you ’ll see the picture slide in from the rightfield , sort of like the current animation now when navigating picture on the BlackBerry . The usual top and bottom UI bar are still here , but if you wiretap once , just like the iPhone , that view will hide and you ’ll have a fullscreen snap of the word picture you ’re looking at . There was pinch to zoom on the touch screen door gadget we saw ( sorry , we ca n’t gloss on the gadget ) , but there was absolutely no fluidness when panning around photos . That ’s something a slew of manufacturing business miss , but , it ’s obviously not the end of the world .
write an e-mail looks to be a little bit more straight forward . The UI has nice , uncontaminating slope and a very advanced World Wide Web 2.0 - spirit . decidedly novel . There ’s also cosmopolitan lookup across the organisation on here … If you have n’t catch the point yet , OS 6.0 spirit to be a very clean and arguably sexy UI for the BlackBerry platform , rent ’s just hope there are some under the tough change as well . Our source says there are many changes we ca n’t see .
In term of a release timeframe , we are sure you ’ll be proud of as punch to find out that we have been tell BlackBerry OS 6.0 will be in market in the June / July timeframe , 100 % . I allege on Twitter I thought RIM was announcing OS 6.0 at WES ( not having get a line that at the time ) , and it looks like I might have been right . brim require to knock this one out of the park , and you ’ll know we ’ll be root for them .
