When Netflix’sCobra Kaifinishes its sixth and final seasonnext year , it ’s unlikely to be the end for everyone . There is , of line , aKarate Kidmovie on the horizonthat’ll characteristic Ralph Macchio ’s Daniel LaRusso , but the Almighty ofCobra Kaiteased that in gain , they are already considering waysto keep the kicking and punches coming .

“ The three of us would jazz to continue to ferment within this universe , ” co - creator Josh Heald told io9 . “ It ’s our favorite creation to play in and we have a lot of other idea that are on our minds already that we ’re start to discuss with our collaborator . ”

Speaking with io9 , Heald and his atomic number 27 - creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg would n’t get into specifics , but the threesome did clear up two thing . One , any possible follow - ups will not make the journey ofCobra Kailess satisfying , and two , they are not talk about the upcoming movie .

“ We achieve everything in this series that we set out to do , ” Heald read . “ And we were unapologetic in our drive and our goals to do some really , really big thing as the sixth season thread down . We had so many balls in the breeze when we enrol time of year six in terms of grapheme you care about , plot line that are in progress , and characters and storylines that we want to begin to secernate because we ’re always telling something young with a fresh time of year as well . And while landing all of those storylines and arcs , some of them will end neatly , some of them will inevitably not . And that was designed in a mode to definitely entrust something on the table . ”

“ There ’s always more on the table because each new time of year just creates new outgrowth of that tree , ” Heald continued . “ And the three of us never stopped talking about , ‘ Oh , you live what would be neat if you do this ? ’ There ’s always more to tell that you ’ll be curious about . ” But , again , that has nothing to do with the approaching movie , which will co - star Macchio along with Jackie Chan as Mr. Han from the 2010 remaking .

“ Mr. Han is not part of our canon , ” Heald tell . “ I opine it ’s more that Daniel is part of that canyon . We ’ve been telling our account the same way we ’ve been telling it since season one . The feature squad create this motion picture portray yet another chance for another filmmaker to descend in and present their vision of a movie that takes place within aKarate Kiduniverse . This one chance to overlap with Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han . But for us , it had no aim on our story . ”
