“ We thankBob Chapek for his serviceto Disney over his farsighted career , including navigating the society through the unprecedented challenge of the pandemic , ” Susan Arnold , Chairman of the Board , said in a argument . “ The Board has concluded that as Disney embarks on an increasingly complex period of industriousness transmutation , Bob Iger is unambiguously situated to lead the troupe through this polar period . ”
Iger will turn back to Disney for two years , “ with a mandate from the Board to set the strategical direction for renew growth and to work close with the Board in developing a successor to conduct the Company at the windup of his term , ” the statement continued .

Iger run Disney from 2005 to 2020 , leading the company to the type of multimedia laterality Hollywood and beyond had n’t seen in ten . In that clock time he acquiredMarvel , Lucasfilm , and 20th Century Fox , as well as launched Disney+ , among many , many other things . He was so beloved by Disney rooter and investors likewise , there was even talk he could run for President .
