Wirecutter found that someone on theFacebook Wink Users Groupposted about being able to see the current provender of a Nest camera he had sell . The person had connected the machine to his Wink hub of voguish - home technical school when he owned the machine . But even after he did a reset on the equipment and sell it , the feed was still coming into his account .

The Wirecutter staff test the issue out . They account that they used a Nest camera that had been synchronize to a Wink hub . They removed the Nest camera from a Nest account , which counts as a “ factory reset ” on that gimmick , according to Nest . After that , they could not see the watercourse . Then they created a raw Nest account through a dissimilar mobile machine , and were able to watch a new flow through the new account , bear witness the machine had a unexampled connection .
But when they checked the Wink app , which Wirecutter had connected to the gimmick originally , the faculty could also see a current of still images from the tv camera that should have been disconnect from that Wink hub through the factory reset .
On Wednesday , Google toldBusiness Insiderit was enquire the issue .
Now Google claims the matter has been resolve . “ We were recently made mindful of an issue touch some Nest cameras connected to third - company partner services via Works with Nest , ” a Google spokesperson told Gizmodo . “ We ’ve since wave out a fix for this issue that will update automatically , so if you own a Nest camera , there ’s no need to take any military action . ”
Google did not answer Gizmodo ’s question about how many Nest customer could have been affect by this issue .
