Frank Taylor is sail around the world , using a kite to take ethereal pic of the place he chaffer . In many case , his photo are upright than the ones in Google Earth . So Google ’s put back its one-time shots with Frank ’s .
Frank ’s in the thick of a five yr tripper around the globe on the Tahina Expedition , an adventure he ’s take with his married woman and of which Google is a partner ( Frank runs the unofficialGoogle Earth Blog ) . In May , the expedition stop on Manihi Atoll in French Polynesia , where Frank used his kite tv camera to capture stab of a settlement near the lagoon where they land . Google recently added those images to Google Earth andGoogle Maps .
And while Frank ’s undoubtedly thrilled that his oeuvre is better Google Earth firearm by piece , he says the most memorable part of the shootis meeting the citizenry who lived in the village he photographed :

The best part of this pic shoot was the opportunity it gave us to satisfy hoi polloi in the hamlet . We started by parking our dinghy near Fernando ’s house . Fernando is the guy who helps sailors chitchat the island have a really unique experience in Manihi . He is also the leader of the Mormon church service at the island , and runs his own pearl farm . Fernando is a dandy guy and genuinely desire all sailors to have a great sojourn to Manihi . He let us set up our gear on a board outside his theater and even made us some bite and drinks as we described our plan .
As soon as we set up the kite , multitude – especially the tiddler – bug out walk up to ask what we were doing . Even though we did n’t talk their spoken language very well , they soon grasped the concept . The kids all wanted their photo pack , and were particularly excited when I asked them to help pull the string when we were retrieving the kite after our flights .
