The Office of Personnel Management machine politician keep flummox regretful . We already know over 21.5 million federal employees had their personal selective information hijacked from the OPM ’s servers . And now the government agency admits that 5.6 million Union employeeshad their fingerprint steal .
Wired support that OPM ’s tally for compromised fingerprint isa lot higherthan previously report :
On Wednesday , the Office of Personnel Management admitted that the numeral of Union employee ’ fingerprint compromise in the monolithic breach of its server revealed over the summer has grown from 1.1 million to 5.6 million .

OPM is notifying the people move , but this is very bad news show . Unlike parole and banking entropy , you ca n’t alter your fingerprint — and fingerprint are now often used in biometric authentication from Apple ’s TouchID to government checkpoint . This means whoever has access to the stolen OPM data now hold a brawny , unchangeable key .
