Jack Blackisn’t done making video-game movies yet!
The actor confirmed the rumors that he’d be starring in an upcoming film adaptation ofMinecrafton Tuesday, posting a photo of himself readingMinecraft Basics for Dummies.
“An actor prepares,” Black, 54,wrote in the caption.
“Awesomeness,” saidKel Mitchell, whileEmile Hirschchimed in, “Dude please be careful. That game is seriously addictive. Don’t lose yourself in it. 🙏.”

According toDeadline, plot details of theJared Hess-directedMinecraftfilm are being kept under wraps for now, but it is set to costarJason Momoa,Emma Myers,Danielle Brooksand Sebastian Eugene Hansen, with a release year of 2025listed on IMDb.
PerDeadline,Black will play the character of Steve, whilethe outlet previously reportedthat Brooks, 34, will play Dawn, and Hansen will step into the role of Henry.
Meanwhile, Black is fresh off the success ofThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, in which he voiced the villain Bowser — and made even more waves with the character’s hilarious earworm"Peaches."
Just one week after its April 2023 release, the animated film became thebiggest video-game movie of all time, eventually racking up atotal of $1.36 billionat the worldwide box office.
Black is also set to reprise the titular Po in his popularKung-Fu Pandafranchise, with a fourth filmslated to hit theaters March 8.

Speaking with PEOPLE aboutThe Super Mario Bros. Movieback in April 2023, Black said signing on to play Bowser was “an instant no-brainer,” considering he has “always been a fan of the original Nintendo Universe.”
“Donkey Kong was such a huge part of my childhood. But my boysfirst introduced me to Bowserbecause I didn’t even play that until they were playing their Nintendo Switches,” said the father of two. “That’s when I really got intoSuper Mario Bros.with them.”
“Bowser wasobviously the coolest character in the universe. And when I got the offer, it was an instant no-brainer. Like, ‘Yes.’ Stoked to play that character,” added Black.
And there’s one game series in theMariofranchise that the actor and musician is “pretty darn good at, if I don’t say so myself”:Mario Kart.
“There is a level above me. I’m not the top crème de la crème,” Black admitted. “But for the average player, I will clean up. I will win.”
