Missing Student Riley Strain Seen Stumbling on Surveillance Video Night He Went Missing

Newly released surveillance footage is shedding light onthe night of Riley Strain’s disappearance.

The University of Missouri student, 22, went missing on Friday night while out in Nashville with his Delta Chi fraternity brothers. His friends told the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department thatthey had last seen himatLuke Bryan’s32 Bridge Food + Drink restaurant and bar.

“Detectives today continue to pursue tips & investigative leads concerning missing person Riley Strain, 22. Strain, wearing a 2-tone shirt, is seen in this video crossing 1st Ave N to Gay St (right to left), at 9:47 p.m. Fri. Have info about him? Plz📞 615-742-7463,” the department wrote on X.

The video shows Strain crossing the street with a group of people around him. He stops and takes a step in the direction he came from before opting to continue walking down the street.

“The investigation as to his whereabouts is active,” the update read.

Christopher Whiteid, Strain’s stepfather, told PEOPLE that his family didn’t know what happened until the next daywhen they got a call from Strain’s friends.

“I was literally getting ready to tee off on the golf course when my wife called me, and I turned around, went and loaded all my stuff off the golf cart, and told my friend that I was sorry I had to leave,” said Whiteid.

He told PEOPLE that they visited “every emergency room” in Nashville, hoping to find Strain.

Whiteid said he feels that they “still have opportunities to find him” being that a detective assigned to Strain’s case told the family that no one matching his description had been at a morgue.

Bryan has alsobeen public about his hopes that Strain gets found.

“TC Restaurant Group, operator, and owner of Luke’s 32 Bridge is continuing to work closely with the Metro Nashville Police Department to provide security camera footage and any other potentially helpful information to aid in the search for Riley Strain. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones for his safe return,” he wrote in an Instagram Story post on Tuesday.

AGoFundMehas been set up on behalf of Strain’s family. As of Thursday, it has raised over $30,000, far exceeding the initial goal of $1,000.
