Nicola Peltz Beckhamis cementing her place in the filmmaking world.

The 29-year-old actress makes her directorial debut withLola, an upcoming drama from Vertical Entertainment that she stars in and also wrote the screenplay for.

“All Lola wants is for Arlo to have a chance at the life she never had, nor will,” the synopsis continues. “One tragic night, her whole world gets uprooted, and from that moment on, nothing will ever be the same.”

Thenearly 3-minute traileropens with Lola saying in a voiceover during a montage of scenes, “I’m the person I am today because of the people that help me and the people that hurt me.”

Subsequent scenes show Mona hurling slurs at Arlo, with Lola doing her best to protect her younger sibling and stand up against their mom while navigating the hurdles in her own young-adult life outside of their home.

“I love you so much. I’m gonna get you out of here. I promise,” Lola tells Arlo.

“I said the same thing when I was pregnant with you,” Mona replies haughtily.
