Attorney Robert Costello and his firm, Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP, filed suit on Monday, alleging that 79-year-old Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, currently owes them $1.3 million for legal services.
The suit alleges that the firm represented Giuliani in more than 10 lawsuits filed against him “in various state and federal courts” and in ongoing disciplinary proceedings regarding his law license in Washington, D.C. and New York. (Afterhaving his law license temporarily suspendedin both D.C. and New York in 2021, Giuliani now faces disbarment for his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.)
Just last month, the attorney listed hisManhattan apartment for $6.5 million.
Giuliani has in recent years made headlines for echoingDonald Trump’s false election claims. He spent months after the 2020 election hosting press conferences and appearing on television and in courtrooms to try and contest the results of the election.

His actions in the wake of the election led to Giuliani beingone of 19 people recently chargedin a sprawling, 98-page indictment that detailed an alleged attempt to undermine the will of American voters.
Giuliani — who served as U.S. attorney for the southern district of Manhattan, between 1983 to 1989, a time during which he became well-known for crusading against organized crime — has been charged with 13 felony counts, including racketeering (violating the Georgia RICO Act) and false statements and writings.

The attorney has also made headlines recently for other controversies, such as when one of his former staffers introduced a series of bombshellaudio transcriptsof the former mayor as part of a lawsuit alleging he forced her to have oral sex and intercourse.
The former staffer further alleges that Giulianidid not pay her a promised $1 million salaryas his director of business development. She claims he stipulated that her position be kept “secret” and that her salary would be deferred, because of his “crazy” ex-wife watching his cash flow.
