Jonathan Owensis defending his wife after a makeup store employee claimed on social media thatSimone Bileswas once “rude” to her and declined a request for a picture.
Hours before his team played the Detroit Lions on Thursday, the 28-year-old Green Bay Packers safetyshared a series of posts on X(formerly Twitter) about the incident, which seemingly happened before the two were married.
“Spreading lies on the internet is crazy, it’s okay for her to deny a picture,” Owens wrote about his wife. “People don’t understand sometimes you just want to shop in peace, if she stops and takes one picture people will just keep following her and won’t leave us alone.”
Owens added in another post: “And another thing, I’ve never heard her talk to someone like that, especially to someone who asked her for a picture, like why would you try to make her look like that, she’s sweetest person in the world. I just couldn’t let this go, especially if i was there like you said i was.”
The athlete thenshared the original postfrom @ilekamays, who claimed that Biles, now 26, was rude to her and other staff members in a past experience.

“Simone Biles came into a makeup store i worked at with her now husband,” @ilekamays wrote in part. “My coworkers daughter did gymnastics so she politely asked for a picture with her during check out and Simone said ‘Absolutely not. Your daughter is 4 she doesn’t even know me.’ ”
The store employee went on to write in part that “she was rude to the staff. We offered her help (as we do with everyone) and she said ‘do I look dumb?’ ”
The employee also added that Biles’ “husband was a sweetheart though.”
Owens’ public play of defending his new wife comes at a busy time for the two athletes, who weremarried in two separate ceremoniesearlier this year.
This week, Biles flew to Belgium to compete in the World Championships as she mounts her comeback to the sport after taking two years off from international competition.
Meanwhile, Owens is enjoying a fresh start in Green Bay after four seasons with the Houston Texans.
